SREW (Sun Rise for Educating the World) is a Community-Based Organization founded on August 20, 2013 by Mr. Pelaabumba and Lusema Tchandja B. We launched it in Kakuma, a refugee camp in Turkana County, Kenya. We realized that many communities around the world are facing numerous obstacles as a result of wars, ethnic conflict, and climate conditions. These issues have resulted in widespread poverty and the destruction of infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, clean water, and roads. As a result, more people’s rights are being violated all across the world. Certain negative cultural practices, such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and adolescent idelness, which can lead to prostitution and drug abuse, are leading to an increase in crime. To fight these problems and work towards a better, more sustainable way of life, the founders of SREW created this organization.
